I volunteered with the Canadian Association of Journalists as Toronto chapter rep on the national board and as Toronto chapter VP in 2019/2020.

In 2019, I also signed on as a volunteer with CSME, the Canadian Society of Magazine Editors, where I was the events coordinator.

Events I planned brought editors, journalists and members of the publishing community together to learn and network.

They included:

January 2020 – CAJ’s “Striking a balance: Tips for writers working in journalism and communications,” in collaboration with PWAC Toronto chapter.

November 2019 – “How to Become a Unicorn,” and “How to ask for Mentorship” with guests from The Walrus, Global News and LinkedIn.

August 2019 – CSME’s “Summer Patio Social,” an evening of cocktails and catching up with magazine friends on The Pilot’s rooftop patio.

July 2019 – CSME Editor’s Choice Awards panel discussion, with guests from the National Newsmedia Council and Magazines Canada, moderated by yours truly.

July 2019 – CAJ Toronto Photo Day + Summer Social

March 2019 – “What is Visual Journalism,” with the Head of Visual Journalism at The Globe and Mail.
